Van Mahotsav Week (Primary Wing)“He who plants a tree, plants hope” ~ Lucy Lacron
Van Mahotsav, a week-long festival of tree plantation is organised every year in the first week of July. Millions of trees are planted across India. This movement was initiated in 1950 by the then Union Minister for Agriculture, Dr K M Munshi.
In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school environment and sensitise students about their role in conserving it, Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School, Jagatpura, Jaipur, celebrated Van Mahotsav from 11th July in the School campus. The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility amongst students towards safeguarding trees and forest cover. The focus of the celebration was on building a personal connect between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation, through various activities.
The students of Grade I and II brought their thoughts and emotions to life through their colourful and vibrant posters.
Each student prepared a poster on the topic ‘GREEN EARTH, CLEAN EARTH’. Each poster had a unique story to spread the message that the green planet we live on must be protected and cared for.
The students of Grade IV and V showcased their skills by making beautiful and innovative planters from waste material and gave a purposeful message of following the 3Rs in our daily lives.
Van Mahotsav Week turned out to be a great success, achieving its purpose in an engaging and fun way.
