Reducing Sugar Intake among Children As part of CBSE’s health initiative to reduce sugar consumption among young learners, a series of engaging activities were conducted across PP3 to Class 1. The aim was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of excessive sugar intake and to promote healthier food choices.
In PP3, the activity “Sugar Less, Smile More!” involved children identifying food items from pictures and classifying them as “yes” for healthy (low sugar) or “no” for occasional consumption (high sugar). PP4 students played a fun dice-rolling game under the theme “Saying Yes to Health, No to Extra Sugar” to understand the difference between sugary and healthy foods.
Class 1 and PP5 explored the concept through an interactive puppet story titled “Sugar Monster vs Happy Tooth” supported by a visual display. Additionally, sugar-awareness boards were placed around the school to reinforce the message. The activities successfully encouraged children to adopt sugar-smart habits.
